VIDEO COMING: We're working on making a fantastic video explaining what An Informed Death is, what funeral planning is, how it can be used, and why you'll wish you had done it sooner.
About Heather W. Felkel
Heather is a licensed Funeral Director in the state of Idaho. She holds certifications as a Crematory Operator, Crematory Administrator, and Cremation Planner. She is also a Certified Celebrant and available to perform meaningful, personalized funeral services.
Heather is the owner of the funeral consulting & death education company An Informed Death which aims to bring the funeral industry closer to the community. She freely and gladly gives her free time to go out into her community to talk to her neighbors and friends about deathcare, options, and choices to make sure everyone has the chance to make an "informed" decision regarding their own deathcare and the deathcare of their loved ones. She has been associated with the Idaho State Funeral Association, Funeral Consumers Alliance of Idaho, International Cemetery Cremation and Funeral Association, National Funeral Director Association, as well as the Cremation Association of North America. She currently applies her funeral directing and celebrant skills at Cloverdale Funeral Home in Boise, Idaho.
Outside of the funeral industry work, Heather is researching the psychological relationship between Thanatology and Communication. On top of teaching classes in Communication at Boise State University, she is working with the university to create an educational program specifically for deathcare and healthcare professionals on how to better communicate with those who are dying and grieving when they cannot speak for themselves.
While her studies and work are her passion, there is still room in her heart to be a dedicated volunteer as an on-call crisis responder for the Trauma Intervention Program of Treasure Valley. If anyone is looking for volunteer work that is immensely rewarding and impactful, please look into giving your time to the TIP program.
